Vincent NZISABIRA is a graduate in Clinical and Social Psychology and holds a degree obtained from the University of Burundi after secondary studies in teacher training for primary education. He has teaching experience since 2018.
As a humanitarian, Vincent Nzisabira has served the Burundian urban refugee community in Rwanda in various fields. He volunteered for the Legal Aid Forum, a local NGO in partnership with UNHCR, as a community mobilizer for child protection. He also worked for the American Refugee Committee, transformed into Alight, in the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence within the Burundian refugee community of Huye.
He worked as a Team Leader (Team/DPoD lead, Digital Champion & Business Coach) for Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Rwanda in the implementation of the COVID-19 Response and Resilience Initiative Project led by young refugees and host communities (Youth-led Refugee and Host communities COVID-19 Response and Resilience Initiatives project) funded by GIZ.
Facilitator in AVP (Alternative to Violence Program), Vincent Nzisabira has participated in various training courses and holds training certificates in entrepreneurship, IT, project management, leadership, reproductive health and prevention of gender-based violence, in child protection and crime prevention and competency-based curriculum in teaching.
Elected by community members, Vincent Nzisabira has led the representative committee of the Burundian urban refugee community in the southern province of Rwanda since 2018.
In his capacity as Program Director for Education, Vincent NZISABIRA is responsible for the planning, management and implementation of education projects for the most vulnerable refugee, displaced, returnee and immigrant children and young people.
Since 2019, Vincent Nzisabira has coordinated the project to support the education of Burundian refugee children implemented by the Forum for Vigilante Memory, in partnership with Burundian Community of Texas (BCT) and Flaming Chalice International (FCI). This project aims to contribute to the host country so that refugee children and young people can have access to quality education. Schooling is one of the best ways to reduce poverty, it offers the most vulnerable refugee, displaced, returnee and immigrant children a fundamental right, a powerful vector of development.
