Niyongabo Jean de Dieu is General Secretary of the Forum pour la Mémoire Vigilante. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Pedagogy of secondary education obtained at the Applied Pedagogical Institute of the University of Burundi. He has teaching experience since 2012.
After entering the humanitarian field, Niyongabo Jean de Dieu became interested in the fight and prevention of genocide and mass atrocities which he continues to build his capacity at the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and mass atrocities where he has already earned three certificates in 1. Foundation in Mass Atrocities Prevention, 2. The Role of Non State Actors in Mass Atrocities Prevention and 3. Collective Memory, Memorization, and Prevention. He is a member of the International Association of Genocide Scholars since 2021.
Niyongabo Jean de Dieu has been project manager in some projects executed by the Forum pour la Mémoire Vigilante , including two funded by the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience respectively in April 2021 entitled “Past and Present Racism through a New Perspective” of which he was actor in the film “Stop discriminating against me” written by Mrs. Janinne Niyoyankunze and in November 2021 of the project named “online awareness in favor of women and girls and members of the LGBTI community.” And finally project manager of a project funded by the International Organization Spirit in Action entitled “Pig breeding project to promote the empowerment of women and members of the Burundian refugee community of Muhanga.”
